Overall I think this is a usable solution without having to spend $200 for a part that will eventually fail again, I paid $15 for all of the parts required. I plan on removing the 7.5A fuse when someone other than me is riding the ski to prevent problems. This relay does not have a current sense shutoff so if you hold the vts button(s) past the end of the motor travel you run the risk of damaging the mechanical gear and/or the motor so use with caution. I also recommend replacing the 15A fuse that comes with the relay with a 7.5A fuse for safety - this should not be an issue unless your motor is going bad and drawing too much current (if so you should replace the motor anyway). The small red wire from the relay that is the hot for the switch control is really light gauge wire so I chose to put a 3A inline fuse in just in case there is ever a short in the system. If you wanted to use the factory power pigtail from the coil box I think everything would still work fine and would be dead without the key. I chose not to use the power wiring from the coil box as I wanted to isolate the vts system completely so if I ever had to do any electrical troubleshooting the vts wouldn't be a factor - the only flaw with this is the vts is hot without the dess key in. To my knowledge all of these dei relays are the same. Other skis should be very similar in color code if not identical. This is how I hooked mine up and it works. I attached a wiring diagram for a 96XP that I hope is pretty easy to read, feel free to let me know if anyone sees a flaw. Like koerbs said, when the work is done a picture really won't help, I put everything in heat shrink so you can't see anything. Well, I promised to do this so here goes.
